Carnelian, from the Latin "Carneus" meaning Fleshy, is an ancient mineral of the chalcedony family. Iron oxide produces its red hue. It's been used to make jewellery since the Neolithic era. Romans chose it for signets since hot wax wouldn't stick to the stone.

A hand cut carnelian with stepped edges is set into the face of our bevelled signet ring handcrafted in 9.25 Sterling Silver.Like deep sunset red, this piece embodies the immortal passage of the sun across our skies, celebrating life.
